Difficulties in learning Polish
Polish has difficult pronunciation. Just looking at the word «bezwzględny» can make you want to give up studying. Groups of consonants are very common in Polish. It may seem very difficult to pronounce them. But pronouncing individual letters can also be a challenging task. Letters and combinations such as «sz», «ś», «ź» and «dż» are very common, and it takes time to understand the difference between them.

Polish has seven cases. Grammatical cases indicate the role a word plays in a sentence. Therefore, once you learn the Polish alphabet, you will know it forever. You will never again wonder how a particular letter of the alphabet is pronounced. Polish intonation is also easy to master. The stress usually falls on the penultimate syllable. So speaking Polish is not that difficult.
2. Polish verbs have fewer tenses. Especially compared with English. If you studied English first and then became interested in Polish, the huge number of grammatical tenses may seem frightening. But Polish has far fewer of them, so verb forms will often be the same.
3. Polish vocabulary is similar to Ukrainian. Although Polish is a Slavic language, many of its words have Latin roots. Therefore, you will recognise words such as «artysta» (artist), «woda» (water), «kolor» (colour) and «grupa» (group). This will make it much easier to expand your Polish vocabulary.
4. Polish sentence structure is not fixed. The order of words in a Polish sentence does not matter. In English, it is extremely important to put the subject first, then the predicate and only then the secondary parts of the sentence. But Polish is much more flexible. Secondary parts of the sentence can easily be placed between the subject and the predicate without violating grammatical rules. Moreover, the meaning of the sentence will remain clear to everyone.
   

   Is it worth learning Polish?
   So, considering all the difficulties, is it worth learning Polish? The answer is: of course it is. With the right approach and an experienced teacher, learning the language will not involve any problems at all.

   There are many reasons to learn Polish. You can communicate with many people, gain access to other Slavic languages, strengthen your memory and travel freely around a neighbouring country while learning Polish. But overall, Polish is not difficult to learn. Especially if you have studied at least one foreign language before, even just at school, and have a general idea of what to expect.

   Of course, to make the learning process even easier and more effective, it is better to start working with a tutor right away. They will be able to explain the differences between Polish and Ukrainian or English, help you understand the grammar and work on expanding your vocabulary. The teacher will also share literature and recommend video lessons and apps that will help you learn new material in an easy, game-like way. Once you have acquired basic knowledge and understood the grammar, you will be able to create dialogues, read Polish texts in the original and answer questions.
