Syretskyi dendropark in Kyiv

Syrets Dendrological Park has the status of a “park-monument of landscape gardening of national importance”. The total area of the park is 6.5 hectares. The basis of the modern Syrets Arboretum was a demonstration park of ornamental plants at a flower farm, established in the late 19th century by the farm’s owner, the German Meyer. Specimens and decorative landscape groups have survived to this day, including Far Eastern yew planted in 1875, oriental thuja planted in 1895, Engelmann spruce and Norway spruce planted in 1900, as well as Norway maple, common oak and small-leaved lime planted during the same period. The historical part occupies about one third of the park’s total area, so it can be said that this park is more than 125 years old.
