The park is part of the “Kyn-Hrust” tract, where country estates were located in the 19th century. At the beginning of the 19th century, General Begichev’s country house stood here; in the 1830s, it was the Lukashevych family estate; by the end of the century, the area belonged to the renowned Kyiv publisher S. V. Kulzhenko, vice-rector of the Kyiv Institute of Photography and professor at the Kyiv Art Institute. Therefore, another name for the area was common among Kyiv residents — “Kulzhenko’s Country House”.
