Between Khreshchaty and Mariinsky parks is City Garden, which, like Khreshchaty Park, is considered part of a single whole, and all the parks listed are collectively called Mariinsky Park. City Park begins immediately after the observation deck on the Mariinsky Palace side and ends at the Bridge of Lovers. It was established in 1743 according to a project by architect Rastrelli on the site of the old Regular Garden founded by Peter I. In 1763, fruit trees were planted and greenhouses were built in the park with the participation of garden masters D. Fok and L. I. Hofmeister.
