The most popular civil registry office in our capital. Couples come here from all districts of Kyiv and neighboring cities in Kyiv Oblast. Perhaps it is all due to the name “Central,” but the atmosphere here is truly festive and grand. The same can be said of its scale: inside the snow-white building, three bright, spacious ceremony halls await you. Each is decorated in its own style and easily accommodates around 50 people. Major renovations were carried out in 2006. The head of the institution is Natalia Ivanivna Naberezhna.
During the peak wedding season, the civil registry office is packed to capacity. Therefore, for a formal marriage registration, it is best to submit your application in advance — 5-6 months beforehand.

Architecture
The Central Civil Registry Office is a modernist structure with a curved roof. Thanks to the construction materials and technologies of the time, it became possible to create buildings with huge interior spaces in the most intricate forms.
There are several structures with similar roofs in Kyiv, including the House of Furniture, as well as the Zhytny and Volodymyr markets. The building is triangular in plan, so Kyiv residents with an ironic attitude toward marriage nicknamed it the “Bermuda Triangle.” This shape was necessitated by the need to direct ceremony participants toward different entrances and exits .
A broad staircase at the main entrance added grandeur to the building on its granite stylobate . The architectural ensemble with its square served as a distinctive accent on the large plot bordered by Povitroflotskyi and Peremohy avenues and Sholudenka and Borshchahivska streets, with a rapid tram line. However, the construction of high-rise buildings nearby in the 2000s nullified the architects’ plans.
