Agree, the registry office determines what your celebration will be like. It is important to consider not only the interior design and courtesy of the staff, but also convenient access, parking and a place for photos and video.

We have compiled a detailed guide to Kyiv registry offices and will tell you about all the specifics of registration in each hall, as well as the cost of the marriage procedure, document submission and registration times.

Descriptions of Kyiv Registry Offices

Where does preparation for a formal ceremony begin? Correctly, with choosing a registry office. First, however, the future newlyweds should determine several important points.

1.   The most convenient registry office will be one located near home, the wedding venue or the banquet. If all three key points are far from one another, the newlyweds will spend a great deal of time on the road.
2.   The registration venue should be chosen according to the number of invited guests. Some registry offices are quite small and are suitable for a ceremony in a close circle.
3.   It is important to consider not only the interior design, but also the façade, convenient limousine parking and the absence of nearby objects that could spoil photo and video shooting.
4.   Decide in advance whether to hire an outside photographer and videographer or use the services of the wedding palace’s staff.

The registry office of Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi District is located at 92 Velyka Vasylkivska St. Its advantage is accessibility: the marriage hall can be reached on foot from Olimpiiska metro station. It is a decent place for a ceremony among close relatives and friends. The hall holds no more than 30 people.

The marriage hall has been freshly renovated in a pleasant green colour scheme symbolising the beginning of a new life and family. Courteous staff, a friendly atmosphere and a cosy hall will make the marriage registration comfortable and peaceful. An attractive photo zone in the form of a bright floral arch has been arranged for newlyweds.

The disadvantages include the small ceremony hall and limited parking.

An advantage is the quick acceptance and processing of marriage-registration documents.

Darnytskyi Registry Office

Two registry offices, Darnytskyi and Livoberezhnyi, are located at 16 Zaslonova St in Kyiv. Since 2014 they have been united under the name Darnytskyi. We will consider each hall separately.

Applications to the Darnytskyi registry office are submitted on the second floor; the entrance is at the side of the building. You can get there by car or by metro to Darnytsia station.

The small formal-registration hall holds up to 30 people, so it is mainly chosen for ceremonies among close relatives and friends. Its old renovation is a disadvantage, although the hall is rather charming and cosy in its light pastel colours. After registration, newlyweds can walk and capture the occasion in Partisan Glory Park.

Livoberezhnyi Registry Office

For a wedding with many guests, newlyweds can choose the luxurious Livoberezhnyi registry office at the same address. In the huge 200 sq. m hall, with 7-metre-high ceilings, any wedding scenario can be brought to life.

The interior is decorated in peach and pink, while massive classic multi-tiered crystal chandeliers add grandeur.

During the ceremony, the couple stands beneath an unusual floral arch that adds a romantic note. The newlyweds sign the registration book on a podium with a white pedestal and an interesting wall design. The entrance and exit are through different doors.

The ceremony should be booked in advance, as queues can sometimes be quite long. During the busy season this leads to faster registrations, with ceremonies held one after another.

Desnianskyi Registry Office

The Desnianskyi registry office is difficult to find on the first attempt. It is located at 15 Maiakovskoho St. The sign of the wedding agency “Lukis” can serve as a landmark.

The gate at the entrance to the stairwell and the marriage hall on the third floor may come as a surprise. On the plus side, newlyweds and guests have spacious parking, so there should be no car-related problems.

The formal-registration hall is quite spacious, with a decent renovation that reflects Soviet heritage. After the ceremony, the couple and guests go to the congratulations room, which is smaller than the luxurious hall.

It is better to take photos inside the registry office, as the exterior is rather modest and it is difficult to find a place for good shots.

Dnipro Registry Office

Applications to Kyiv’s Dnipro registry office can be submitted at 8/20 Verkhovnoi Rady Boulevard. It is only a 15-minute walk from Darnytsia metro station.

It is easy to find by its striking monumental façade decorated with wedding rings. Victory Park is nearby, where newlyweds can shoot video, take beautiful photos and simply walk with their guests.

The registry office’s advantages include convenient, spacious parking for the wedding cortege. The ceremony hall has all the features needed for a formal registration and a memorable day.

Modern multi-level illuminated ceilings, a warm peach-coloured hall, a crystal wall composition and sunny stained-glass windows create excellent conditions for registration photos. Before the ceremony, newlyweds can prepare in the spacious lounge.

Obolonskyi Registry Office

Near Minska metro station, at 28V Obolonskyi Avenue, stands Kyiv’s Obolonskyi registry office. It is set among residential buildings and its exterior may suggest that there is nothing interesting inside.

But that is where the surprise lies: the registration hall is truly luxurious and solemn. It is chosen by celebrities living in nearby elite buildings.

The interior is decorated in light colours. Delicate, heavily draped curtains decorate the floor-to-ceiling windows like white and pink clouds. The Obolonskyi registry office is a good choice for weddings of up to 50 people.

Pecherskyi Registry Office

Applications to the Pecherskyi registry office are submitted in a residential building at 7/10 Tsytadelna St. Newlyweds and guests immediately find themselves in a cosy atmosphere. The small hall, holding up to 30 people, is decorated in a classic style. Light beige colours, decorated columns and abundant light make the setting even more formal. The interior is suitable for photos and video shooting.

Podilskyi Registry Office

The Podilskyi registry office is at 6 Borysohlibs`ka St, near one of Kyiv’s most romantic places, Kontraktova Square. The disadvantages noted by newlyweds are the old renovation and the very small registration hall. Only 10-12 people may attend the registration.

Before the registration, newlyweds can wait in the lounge and touch up their makeup. There are queues during the season, so the date should be booked in advance.

Sviatoshynskyi Registry Office

Applications to Kyiv’s Sviatoshynskyi registry office can be submitted at 6 Yakuba Kolasa St. It is conveniently located: from Sviatoshyn metro station, you only need to cross a footbridge. This is a one-storey building with a mosaic façade; the large flower bed in front of the entrance is a landmark.

There are two registration options. The first, less formal, is in the registry-office director’s office. The second is registration in a small but very cosy hall decorated in light colours with abundant silk, crystal chandeliers and wall sconces. This backdrop produces especially warm photos of the couple’s most important day.

The registry office has a cosy atmosphere, and the courteous staff conduct registrations with particular warmth. It is one of the most comfortable and cleanest wedding palaces in the capital. The only disadvantage is the hall’s limited capacity of 20-30 people. There may also be queues for registration.

Solomianskyi Registry Office

One of the capital’s most luxurious wedding palaces, the Solomianskyi registry office, is located at 1/28 I. Lepse Boulevard. Its presentable façade, short queues and excellent organisation make it a leading formal wedding venue. A park nearby is suitable for walks and photos with guests.

The spacious lobby and formal hall, holding up to 60 people, are decorated in light colours. Unlike many registry offices, the registration hall does not feel dated: it has modern renovation, massive hand-carved doors and theatrical window drapery with airy tulle.

This design supports the appropriate atmosphere of the newlyweds’ most important day, the first day of their life together. Prices at the Solomianskyi registry office depend on the day of the procedure and any additional services ordered.

Central Registry Office

Kyiv’s Central Registry Office, at 11 Peremohy St, is very popular with newlyweds. Couples from every district of the capital register their marriages here. From the entrance, visitors are immersed in an atmosphere of grandeur and ceremony.

The wedding palace is popular not only with Kyiv residents; people often come from the regions as well. Its original architecture highlights the importance of the moment. The large number of applicants creates registration queues, and the formal day may have to be booked six months ahead. The only disadvantage is that ceremonies are rather quick because of the flow of weddings. You may spend about an hour waiting, and prices are higher than at other palaces.

The Kyiv registry office has three spacious halls with high ceilings for formal registration. Guests sit on chairs during the ceremony, an undeniable advantage. Luxurious crystal chandeliers, bright red-and-blue or olive-and-red window pelmets, carpets and a podium create an atmosphere for a formal and memorable registration.

Shevchenkivskyi Registry Office

Applications to Kyiv’s Shevchenkivskyi registry office are submitted at 17 Puhachova St. The hall holds up to 25 people and is decorated in white. Massive chandeliers with ceramic shades accented with gold emphasise the solemnity of the moment.

The friendly staff approach every registration warmly and with a smile. Photos and video can be taken both inside and outside the building. A spacious paved area with numerous benches is arranged in front of the entrance.

Kyiv Registry Office Opening Hours

In Kyiv, all registry offices except the Central one follow the same schedule:

•         Tuesdays from 9-00 to 20-00;
•         Wednesday to Friday from 9-00 to 18-00;
•         Saturdays from 9-00 to 16-00;
•         Sunday and Monday are days off at all registry offices;
•         marriages can be registered Tuesday to Saturday from 9-00 to 16-00;
•         lunch break from 13-00 to 14-00.

Submitting an application to Kyiv’s Central Registry Office differs somewhat from the other wedding palaces:

Documents and Registration Cost in Kyiv

•         both newlyweds’ birth certificates;
•         for a repeat marriage registration, a divorce document is required.

The registration waiting period is one month from the date of application. A shorter period is possible only for valid reasons, such as serious illness, military service or a long business trip.

The cost of marriage registration depends on the conditions:

•         registration application — from 35,66 UAH;
•         a simple registration — from 155 UAH;
•         formal registration — from 304 UAH;
•         a laminated certificate is charged separately.
